I'd like to offer private belly dance classes for anyone who feels like they need more one-on-one instruction, privacy, patience and a teacher dedicated to spreading the joy of the dance! You'll get to work at your own pace, wear whatever you like, and be encouraged to find the beauty of the dance in your own way.

I absolutely believe in the spirituality of belly dancing, and see it the way it was meant to be seen- a beautiful act that praises life and strengthens women's bodies.

The dance will help with self-esteem, body image, flexibility, moods, and over-all well being.

Wear comfortable yoga clothes or dress up for each lesson- it’s up to you!

The schedule is absolutely flexible, and I will do my best to work out a time that works best for you- lessons can be anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours- again, it's up to you! The price will vary as to how long you want your lesson to be. To give you an idea, an hour-long lesson will be $15. However, trades can be made and I can always knock down the price if you need it. My goal is to inspire you and help you find belly dance as wonderful as I do.

Learn to relax into the art and the beauty of the dance and enjoy yourself!
Many of you know me as the mayor of Pagan Village as many of you are already members of that tribe. But many new faces have join Tribe since I last posted a call to join this Tribe. I see the many Pagan tribes here on Tribe as very distinct pagan neighborhoods within the Pagan Community here as a whole. Pagan Village is intended to be a place where all these neighborhoods can come together & share with one another. So I’m inviting all those who have not yet join to come share your magick at The Pagan Village Tribe. Look upon it like coming to the Village square to get or share the most recent gossip or what not. To use it as the Village Cryer to advertise your events or what not & yes it’s ok to come advertise your Pagan Tribe here. We have already 1240 members, so we are definitely beginning to show are numbers here. I notice that Burning Man Tribe has over 9,000 members. Wow! Don’t believe we can ever reach that number here but I do believe after viewing all the Pagan Tribes I belong to that Pagan Village could probably get its numbers up to over 3,000. Hmmmm. Maybe more in time. Want to help? Well then come on over!
All the moderators of the Pagan tribes that are members of Pagan Village are automatically members of the Pagan Village Council. Not sure how that will benefit you yet but who knows as I’m looking to expand the Pagan Village Tribe. One of the ways I see to do it would to create an e-newsletter for its members called The Pagan Village Cryer. Anyone interested in writing for it? Maybe a website I don’t know yet. It’s just with 1,240 members & maybe soon a lot more I see so much potential. Witchvox I believe may had such a humble beginning.

Community Spiral Dance
Following the Prayer for Peace global link up...
in the Main Field

Immediately following the Prayer for Peace on Saturday September 17th we will join hands and dance a double spiral dance. This will be the biggest spiral dance ever created and will depend wholly on the participation and cooperation of all involved. The Spiral dance is a very powerful experience that can weave our collective intentions and prayers into one great vision that we then release into the universe on an incredible wave of voices. This kind of focused prayer has been proven to have tremendous potential for positive change and the dance itself is a great opportunity for us to connect as a community - as we join hands in a circle to dance into the center and out again, we pass each person in the dance and begin to see the many powerful beings that are part of this great turning of the wheel of life!
In the natural world, the spiral is seen everywhere: in the unfurling bud of a new rose, the whorled lines of a seashell, even in the great spiral arms of galaxies. The spiral image appears in sacred art of many cultures. The Native American shamanic tradition holds concentric circles to be "passageways between the natural and supernatural world", and mandalas are sacred symbols used for meditation in Eastern religions which often use spiral motifs. In Australian aboriginal paintings, concentric circles are said to show the location of sacred sites. Spiral images appear in the art of the Huichol Indians of Mexico and in many other cultures around the world. Both single and double spirals were among the most sacred signs of Neolithic Europe. They appeared on megalithic monuments and temples all over the continent and the Celtic islands. Spiral oculi (double twists resembling eyes) appear prominently in places like the threshold stones at Newgrange in Ireland.

How it Works:

Firstly, all participants will move to the outer edges of the field. Then two leaders holding tall banners will begin a slow journey into the center creating a line behin them. As participants chant to the heartbeat of the drum, they will join one of the lines. Those who do not wish to dance can move to the center and hold space there. Each procession will move into the center and then begin to weave back out again - passing the line that is still moving inward. As the lines move in and out, the energy builds and when the two lines meet, all participants will raise their voices and release their intentions to the heavens.
DANCES OF ECSTASY

Friday Night/Saturday Morning
Arlo Forest Stage
3 :00am - 4:30am

DANCES OF ECSTASY is a sensory journey into the mesmerising world of trance and ecstasy that binds dancers from Manhattan to Morocco. Australian filmmakers Michelle Mahrer and Nicole Ma travelled to traditional and modern day rituals to discover what is the altered state experience which people seek through dance. In these rituals, Whirling Dervishes from Turkey, Orisha priestesses from Nigeria and Brazil, and shaman healers from the Kalahari and Korea, pulse to the same beat as thousands of young people at an all night techno dance party in an Australian forest.

DANCES OF ECSTASY is a visual and aural feast for the senses, an innovative documentary blending exciting dance rituals, evocative imagery, interviews and a spellbinding global music soundtrack. The film is an inspiration to dance, and to reconnect with a sense of the sacred that many have lost touch with in modern life.

In my poem "Fairy Tale"*, among various other subconscious flotsam, was a bit of a tribute to my favorite fairy tale, Anderson's "The Snow Queen." While engaged in my dance meditation, I realized the Saturnian symbolism, most notably of Capricorn Venus/Libra Saturn mutual reception, inherent in the tale.

"The Snow Queen." She, her royal icy majesty, seems like Sun in Capricorn to me. She is the embodiment of impervious authority, ancient, wise, steeped in experience, archetypal. She is not cruel, but may seem so. She is just. She has built her world of ice and knows it intimately.

The children, unspoiled innocence and love, but untried. The boy seems like Venus in Capricorn. He strives for status, hooking his sleigh to the coolest host he can imagine, feigning lack of fear to climb to his imagined destiny in service to the Queen. He expects rich reward, but finds instead that all is taken from him until he can earn his prize.

The girl, more like Saturn exalted in Libra (in the 9th House of journeys). She is ultimately in service to love, to her loyal partnership despite his betrayal. She sees her shining ideal of union as a mental image before her, guiding her forward despite obstacles. She learns, grows, matures through her travels, yet maintains that inner light of devoted love. Thus she is able to cure him of his malaise with the purity of her tears to melt his frozen heart.

It's not about gender. Female Venus represents the male character; the male Sun represents the Queen. It's not even about relationships or loyalties or class and status. It's about that old Saturnian karmic road, where we learn our lessons through hard experience or keep suffering until we put together the realizations that allow us to be free and self-serving in the sense that we become our own authority.

I have been rereading Liz Greene's book on Saturn since the ingress to Leo heightened my interest in that archetype: The dweller on the threshhold, the lord of karma, the lessons of embodiment, the alchemical lead to be turned to gold, the ruler of Capricorn, a symbolism with which I have issues to resolve. So I'm doing my dancing meditation, as I do whenever I get the alone time/space/music to regroove and move into touching the core of my creativity. I'm not really thinking about, just letting my mind do its roving thing. So it hits me, hard, like a rock thrown through a window into my consciousness, "dweller on the threshhold" -- not ferry through the threshhold or astronaut or even archaeologist -- dweller on the threshhold, living in the eternal magic between the worlds. It's not about going through the threshhold, at least not as an absolute imperative or desirable leap. It's about taking the time to build a relationship with the hermit that is I. Becoming a trusted friend, building skills and knowledge, preparing rather than jumping headlong into the void. Reminds me of Dr. Who's tardis -- that technology of the timelords which could travel through endless possibilities while providing the security of the known. Something like the yin-yang, with the seed of the other in the vastness of transcendence. Like the egg and the chicken: the evident and the kinetic.

I think I'm getting caught up in the wordplay here. So what was I trying to say?

It's not about the confusion and raw anxiety of living in two worlds, secured to none. It's about living in the heady space between, taking from each what is attractive of its attributes, making my own way in my own world, exuding the creations of my synthesizing of the differences. Or something like it.

*Fairy Tale

A memory of haunting nostalgia
I cannot not touch it, taste it, hold it, know it, breathe it
Still it picques me at the corner of my eye, below the level of perception.
The words escape me.
One must be very careful of words.
They hold great power, mystic and legal and personal.
Words can weave a whole world, a whirl of worlds, a wild wind of words
They can create reality for those who get caught up in them.
The right word at the right time can catalyze miracles.
The right word at the wrong time can destroy the eternal.
How might I find the words to capture my dream, my destiny?

Enter the Fool upon the Precipice, prattling ditties of the daily airwaves.
She is whirling blithely, eyes upon a distant rainbow, breathing in clouds
Breathing out daisies and daffodils and a brilliance of pansies.
She is dancing to her own symphony, entranced in her deepest essence.
Without thought, without prayer, without a government authorized identity
There are no guarantees, no happy ending.

There is a tale I try to tell.
Its point escapes me, withering into fairydust.
I breathe in the poisoned air, drink the poisoned water, eat the poisoned food
Like a desperately swimming fish in a polluted bowl,
Like a creature of the streets eating garbage,
Like a child.
The pattern is corrupted, but I follow it as best I can.
I have been told that if I can properly put the pieces in place
All will be revealed; all will be peace and beauty and love.
The pieces of my shattered heart.

We all at sometime as living beings experience some kind of trauma, dis-ease, ill health. There is so much that can go wrong that for even the most fortunate of us something sometimes does. For the less fortunate, there is often trauma of the kind and duration to suspend the ability to function in the ways we consider normal, or even in the ways necessary to sustain life.

We cannot avoid illness. Even if some of us could find some way to protect ourselves, there are always unanticipated exigencies. The very best we can do is to have or develop methods to cure what ails us. In our sojourn as mind-body-spirit we do have resources within ourselves with which to heal ourselves, no matter what our circumstances. We as humans have innate self-curative powers to access when we have the will and the wisdom to reach in, to reach out, to empower our selves and make peace with our embodiment. We have the ability to dance.

I have been studying the healing powers of rhythmic movement on our bodies, minds, spirits, relationships, communities, world. There are very real physical, biological, scientifically varifiable qualities involved, as well as very metaphysical, magical, spiritual, ineffable. There are linkages between creativity, beauty, grace, health, balance, breath, exercise, neurochemistry, brain waves, prayer, ecstatic experience, social interaction, entrainment, eco-psychology, ritual, and so much more. In some sense, it seems to me, dance is our reward for enduring the painful aspects of embodied life.

I intend to organize my research and develop a series of articles to discuss what I find. I want to reach out to educate widely and explore the possibilities of self-healing our wounds of all denominations with the balm, the veritable pharmacopia inherent in our own bodies expressed in movement.

Come dance with me!

Peace,

My friends & I looked forward to camping and belly dancing around the bonfire, but we were unable to make it happen this past summer due to schedules and Wisconsin weather.
